My old oven only produced burned cakes, so it has been replaced!

Delightfully my brand new, all-dancing, all-baking, no-singeing

oven was installed last week, and it worked a treat!

Except for the top oven!

I turned the temperature up, checked the grill, the oven, the mains

switch and tried everything! But nothing worked!

Later that day I mumbled; ‘Oh Lord I wish the oven worked; I’ve wasted hours calling customer service robots!  And that’s when I noticed the knob!  The Function knob! Doh!     And with just one turn of the switch, everything was perfect!

When Jesus rose from the dead, an incredible new theological switch appeared, previously unseen, that changed the history of the world!

Overnight, salvation switched from a system of laws, sacrifices, and earning God’s favour, to a new, perfect covenant where we can be saved simply by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ! A switch that people of the world had hitherto not seen, and which many people still ignore, still straining to live up to unattainable standards.

Jeremiah prepared the world for this new switch:                                                     ‘This is the brand-new covenant that I will make with Israel, I will put my law within them, write it on their hearts and be their God and they will be my people.  I’ll wipe the slate clean for each of them.’ Jer 31:33-34

Have you flicked the switch from striving to earn God’s favour,  to simply receiving your clean slate, and thanking Jesus?
