A Message from our Minister - Rev Gill Daniel

I like to bake an occasional cake or two,

but recently I haven’t had much success!

On my son’s birthday I burnt the pavlova.

The following week I burned two sponges and some sausages.

On Tuesday night I burned every muffin for the coffee morning

and had to buy replacements!

Pretty hopeless, eh?

For me baking used to be a piece of cake! but you can’t have your

cake and eat it, and I certainly didn’t! I had clearly lost the knack

for baking and become a failed cook! I was never going to curry

favour with my cooking!

Nevertheless, shortly afterwards I switched on the oven, and it radiated a terrible burning smell! The oven was so hot I thought it was going to launch! From that moment I realised that my cooker was entirely to blame!    The thermostat had malfunctioned!

In life we fail, fall short, fall flat, mess up, screw up, botch up, let people down and let God down, all because of the hardwired flawmostat within, sin.   However hard we try no human can be completely flawless. Paul said:

Sin is living in me. I have the desire to do what is good, but I just cannot carry it out Rom 7

Jesus died and rose again to break the power of sin in your life and mine. Sin no longer has the final word, Christ does, with his abundant mercy and forgiveness towards repentant hearts. Today know you are forgiven!     Thank God for Jesus! The icing on the cake! Hallelujah!

Have a very, very blessed Easter!                                                                                With love, Rev Gill x

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.1Jn 1:8
